Sargent, Nebraska is a small town, with a population of approximately 710, located in the middle of the state along the edge of the Middle Loup River. It is one of the older towns in the area dating back to 1884. The economic base of the community is agricultural with very little industry. Because of that fact, the population has changed very little since 1900. The population base is basically Caucasian with a very small percentage of Hispanic and Asian. The district currently covers nearly 400 square miles.
According to the Nebraska Department of Education, “A school improvement process is a systematic ongoing process involving planning, implementation, and evaluation and renewal of school improvement activities to meet local and statewide goals and priorities. All accredited schools in Nebraska must have a school improvement process in effect according to Rule 10-009.01. The process includes a periodic review by visiting educators who provide consultation to the local school/community in the continued accomplishment of plans and goals. In accordance with Rule 10-009.01B each school must have an external team visit at least once each five years.”
